Renegade IP Handbook

Renegade LARP is a 20 year High Fantasy LARP Campaign

set in the World of Ralsted.

Created by Karl Lechmere, Renegade Team Building use many innovative OOC methods and design elements to create a solid OOC foundation to support a 20 year IC LARP campaign.

Renegade Team Building have carefully analyzed the reasons for many LARP campaigns to end; such as Org Burnout without contingency and handover, Org/Player disputes over game IP resulting in game cancellation, Org decisions to reset game world lore without Player consultation, etc.

The primary solution to many of these problems; chosen by Renegade Team Building; is through the use of Intellectual Property License Agreements to suit the various levels of involvement in the Renegade LARP campaign; to protect the interests of Renegade Team Building, the Players and the content creators.

Unlike many games with fine print and a simple "I Accept", Renegade Team Building wish to encourage players to know and understand their IC and OOC rights, privileges, responsibilities and duties so that everyone is on the same page.

There are Renegade Team Building IC License Agreements; ranging from NPC and Player Character through to high profile Characters such as Guild Grand Masters, High Priests, Lords, Barons and Counts.

There are also a range of OOC license agreements for those involved in ongoing  Renegade IP development; enabling players to work on a collaborative project with confidence that the 20 year Renegade LARP Campaign will remain stable and that the hard work of individuals will not be lost.

Each and every Licensee agreement will recognize the content creator as the Author, while Renegade Team Building will retain ownership of the IP. Content creators can charge others for their time; or barter products and services in return.

The Renegade Team Building License Agreements even enable a licensee to charge a fee to transfer their existing License to another individual.

Unlike many LARP games that require a large number of players in order to remain economically viable, Renegade Campaign is designed for small numbers, gathering from time to time for larger events. Even if a particular real world area only has a handful of players, meaningful LARP games can occur that fit into the Renegade Campaign. The minimum number of Players attending a Renegade LARP event are Three; with two NPC and one PC. These Players can attend larger games on occasion and still have contributed to; and feel connected; the Renegade Campaign.

For those who cannot regularly attend Renegade Freeform or Renegade LARP events, Players can remain actively involved in the Renegade Geopolitical game or contribute as the author of many behind the scenes, Out Of Character; aspects of the Renegade Campaign while receiving recognition and reward; such as trading 100 hours of OOC with a Game Provider Licensee in exchange for 100 hours of IC gameplay.

The following Slideshows are designed to create an overview of the Renegade Campaign. Additional detail can be found in the electronic copies of the Rules and various Handbooks associated with the Renegade Team Building License Agreements.
