Renegade Supporting Character Role Handbook

Supporting Character Roles are the foundation of Renegade Campaigns

Renegade Campaigns will be "Preloaded"
with thousands of Supporting Character Role (SCR) Characters; each with their own unique backstory, skill set and personality; living in fortified Towns, Villages, Hamlets & Farms. Renegade Theatre Company will protect the integrity of Renegade Campaigns by protecting SCR from abuse by Performers who might consider SCR as expendable.

The main difference between a Character created by a Character Role Licensee and a SCR Character created by Renegade Theatre Company are that a CRL can create a unique Character for themselves; choosing backstory, skills and personality; and choose what to do with the Character; often leading to a shorter life expectancy when compared to SCR.

Many of the SCR in the Renegade Campaign are veterans of a vicious civil war who; when pushed into a corner; will dust off the nasty tactics and skills that they used to survive; and use them against other Characters; CRL or SCR. SCR Characters have their own agenda and are fiercely independent and unpredictable; just as it is with Performers who guide their CRL Characters.

Story Provider Licensee (SPL) will host events and run Missions amongst these SCR Characters and be permitted to activate, deactivate and on occasion Permadeath the SCR to suit the story. In order to create story and plot; while protecting continuity; SPL will have access to the SCR Journal Entries from Geopolitical and times where the SCR has been performed previously.

SPL may only use existing SCR Journals or add additional information to a SCR Character. Story and plot should combine old and new in order to in order to protect the Continuity of the Renegade Campaign. Performers of SCR Character will assist the SPL by combining the SPL instructions and playing the role faithfully. However, at all other times; when in doubt; a SCR will choose self preservation and self interest over the story.

On occasion, a SPL will require a SCR Performer to sacrifice the SCR for the story and; regardless of how an individual or group feels about it; it must be done to enhance the Renegade Campaign. However; at any point during a Story or Mission; a SCR Performer may choose to upgrade the SCR Character into a CRL Character to avoid obeying the instructions of the SPL. SPL must remain flexible enough in their planning that a Performer who brings an SCR to life doesn't break the plot.

Introduction…Badly done.
In an alternate universe, where Renegade Theatre Company didn’t insist on standards of introduction of New Performers to the Renegade Campaign…A first LARP experience is far from perfect… probably invited to attend an event by a friend who says something like…”My Character in the Campaign in charge of an important Mission and we’re really short on numbers. Can you help me out?”…or “Somebody can’t make it and we’re really desperate”…or “There’s an IC conflict of interest that means that one of my regular companions can’t join”…or “I need your help to play the role of my loyal sidekick in the Adventuring Party” or “My Character is being hunted down by Assassins for stealing and I need a bodyguard” …blah blah blah.

Standard LARP gobbledegook that some non role players are inflicted with at short noticed by their role playing friends. Not going to happen in Renegade Theatre Company events.
