Renegade 1880 Steampunk Campaign
"1880 brought about a World Changing Invention and the World's downfall was caused by it. A device that could provide vast power to every City and Town; light to every street corner ending the need for Gas; boiling steam for every industry, ending the need for Coal. Even the smallest community had a device.

Then came the Solar Flare; and with it; the destruction of the devices, the destruction of the Cities and towns, the Deaths of Millions and and the opening of the Elemental Rifts in the ruins. Those who did not perish yet were close to the rift; became the slaves of the Elementals; worshiping them as though they were minor Gods.
Those who were luckily outside the Rift banded together; lead by the Engineers who turned to Steam to survive.

First, the Engineers learned how to contain and harvest the powers of the Air Elemental and raised Dirigible aloft to restore trade between the survivors; as well as protect against Earth. Second, they learn to contain and harvest the Fire Elemental to provide thrust for Dirgibles and protect against Water. Then Earth to create fortress that could protect the people against the worshipers of the Elements as well as against Air; and Water to irrigate crops and protect against Fire.
These Engineers were rewarded with Noble Titles and serve and protect those who live within their domains. Now; One Hundred Years Later; the free people of the World will use Steam to take back territory and free those who have fallen under the domination of the Elements."
